On October 14, the Almaty half marathon for the first time will be held in Almaty. This unique competition in Almaty will be organized in the framework of the preparation for the largest running event in Central Asia - the Almaty Marathon 2019. Registration for the half marathon is open from today – 30th of July.
5000 athletes from Almaty and regions are expected to take part in the competition. Running fans will have to overcome the distance of the standard half marathon with a length of 21 km 97,5 m. Those who are not ready for such distance, will run 10 km sputnik race.
Athletes will start from the Park of the First President and will finish at the Central Stadium.
“We chose the route for the first half marathon not by chance. It runs along old route of the Almaty Marathon, which the participants like very much”, - says Saltanat Kazybayeva, Director of the “Courage to be the First” CF, the organizer of the Almaty Marathon. – “Participation in the half marathon as a separate competition is a good training and a testing of strength for those athletes who plan to overcome long distances on large international projects. Literally a few days ago we announced the holding of the competition and now we see a great interest in the event. We are sure that the Almaty half marathon will be another favorite race in the sports life of Almaty residents and guests of the city”.
During the competition a part of the city’s roads will be closed. A detailed road closure plan will be presented closer to the competition.
Anyone who is over 15 years old can take part in the 10 km race, in the half marathon (21 km) - from 18 years old. Winners will be awarded in their age category, also absolute champions will be awarded in the half marathon distance.
“The Almaty half marathon will be one of the first to accept organizational novelties taking into account the wishes of runners for further events of the Fund. So, now winners of the absolute terms will not be awarded in the age categories. This will give an opportunity to new athletes to be on a pedestal. In addition, there is a special age category for honorary marathoners over 60 years old as in the Almaty Marathon. Particular attention will be paid to cleanliness and discipline at the start. We are already negotiating with city services and business representatives about sending waste for processing after the race. We had such experience with our regular partner A’SU brand during the marathon. We were able to collect 482 kg of plastic in special urns. We believe that this is a good example and we need to take it as a basis for implementation and improvement at the next major starts”, - says Artyom Yakupov, participant of the 2018 World Half Marathon Championship (Valencia), organizer of the Almaty Marathon.
Registration and payment for participation are available at http://www.almaty-marathon.kz/ru/ from June 30 till October 7, 2018. Registration can be closed earlier if the number of participants reaches 5000 people.
Start fee:
For participants of the 21 km half marathon - 6000 KZT. The cost includes a branded T-shirt.
For participants of the 10 km race – 4000 KZT.
