Following the results of the Almaty Marathon 2018 in the framework of the implementation of charitable purposes, the construction of sports facilities in three children’s specialized facilities. By the beginning of the school year, the students will be able to play in new sports fields and fitness equipment adapted for everyone’s needs. In general, more than 16 million tenge was allocated for three facilities this year.
“Almaty marathon’s” beneficiaries of this year are:
• The first hospice for children with cancer "I'm with you"
• Regional special boarding school for children with visual impairments in the city of Yesik,
• Special (correctional) boarding school No. 6 for children with intellectual disabilities.
At the request of boarding schools and hospice, children’s playground, a football field and sports equipment are being built on their territories. Despite serious illnesses, sports for these children are not just a hobby, but also an opportunity to restore and maintain health, a way of socializing and adapting to the difficult life conditions. For example, children from the hospice attend the winners’ game in Moscow ever year, where children who have had cancer participate in sports competitions. For 6 years the Almaty Marathon team has implemented 11 major projects related to the rehabilitation and support of children’s sport among children with disabilities.
- « Almaty Marathon has already become not just a race competition, but also a significant social project. Many participants are motivated by the fact that they can make their contribution and help those who really need it. We ourselves control the whole process of construction and procurement. It is important for us that the kids receive the best playgrounds and equipment, which at least a drop will bring the children and their parents closer to a healthy and happy life. Participants running their distances, partner companies, volunteers, the Almaty Marathon team – each contributed to this great good deed!» - concluded Saltanat Kazybayeva, the director of the Almaty Marathon.
Next Almaty Marathon will be held on April 21, 2019. Throughout the year, everyone can take part in the seasonal races, the nearest of which the Summer Race will be held in less than a month – July 14. For those, who want to keep fit and improve their running technique – every Saturday at 10.00 in the Park of the First President there are held free open trainings.
