The organizing committee of the Almaty Marathon informs citizens and guests of the southern capital about the partly closure of the roads on the day of the competitions.
On April 22, for the duration of the Almaty Marathon traffic will be partially closed in the places of the marathon distances.
Traffic along Satpayev Street from Zheltoksan Street to Nazarbayev Avenue will be closed from 21.04.18 beginning from 12.00 until 22.04.18 till the end of the event (17.00). All lanes will be completely blocked.
Traffic along Nazarbayev Avenue from Satpayev Street to Al-Farabi Avenue will be blocked from 05:00 to 13:00. All lanes will be completely blocked.
Traffic along Al-Farabi Avenue from Nazarbayev Avenue to Sain Street will be closed from 05:00 to 13:00. The southern side of Al-Farabi will be free to traffic.
Traffic along Sain Street from Al-Farabi Avenue to Abay Avenue will be closed from 05:00 to 13:30. (The western side will be free to traffic)
Abay Avenue from Sain Street to Baitursynov Street (the northern side will be free to traffic), Satpayev Street from Baitursynov Street to Zheltoksan Street, Baitursynov Street from Abay Avenue to Satpayev Street will closed to traffic from from 05:00 to 14:00.
Shashkina Street from Al-Farabi Avenue to Timiryazev Street, Timiryazev Street from Shashkina Street to Auezov Street, Satpayev Street from Auezov Street to Baitursynov Street, Manas Street from Timiryazev Street to Abay Street will be closed from 05:00 to 10:30. All lanes will be blocked to traffic.
Batys Zheltoksan Street from Al-Farabi Avenue to Timiryazev Street, Zheltoksan Street from Timiryazev Street to Satpayev Street, Timiryazev Street from Batys Zheltoksan Street to Zheltoksan Street will be closed from 06:00 to 8.30. All lanes will be closed to traffic.
The data are included taking into account the appropriate allocation of time of movement of participants of the race.

«Almaty Marathon is the country’s largest racing event. Every year, the event is attended by participants not only from all regions of Kazakhstan, but also from other countries. The road closure for such large-scale events is international practice. We do our best in order to make traffic as much as possible by opening road sections as soon as the runners cover the distance. We hope for city residents’ understanding and recommend that you adjust the routes in advance, taking into account the road closures”, - commented Saltanat Kazybayeva, director of Almaty Marathon
The recommended route for driving to Republic Square by car:
- Along Zheltoksan Street south to Satpayev Street,
- Along Nazarbayev Avenue south to Stapayev Street,
- Along Satpayev Street west to Nazarbayev Avenue.
In connection with traffic congestion, we recommend participants to get to the start site (Republic Square) by metro or along Abay Avenue or by buses along Abay Avenue (traffic on the north side). Please note that parking near the start-finish town (Republic Square) will be difficult.
