The Almaty Marathon will hold the Summer Race on July 15. The Almaty Marathon’s seasonal races are intended to promote active recreations and help amateur runners get ready for the main running event of the next year – the 7 th Almaty Marathon.
According to the organizers, about 650 people will toe the starting line of the Summer Race. In addition to the full distance of 15 km and children’s distance of 2 km, the organizers offer a relay race with male/female pairs participating (7.5 km for each runner).
There will be refreshing machines and water points for the runners along the race route.
“The registration for the race started on July 1. The particular feature of the race this year was the idea of a big collector’s medal for all seasonal races – winter, spring, summer and autumn. The runners of all four races will get one. After the summer race, the participants will get a step closer to another element of the big medal. Our seasonal races are always filled with a special atmosphere and have a set of benefits. For example, short distances and uncommon place. We have chosen the Baum Grove. It is shadowy and picturesque. The grove is perfect to run the distance with your friends on a hot summer day!” Saltanat Kazybayeva, The Almaty Marathon Director says.
“I did like the idea of collecting one big medal. It is a great motivation to take part in each of the races and to train hard. Looking forward to collecting all parts together,” 30-year-old Yerzhan Kurmanbay, permanent participant of the Almaty Marathon races, says.
The event will be supported by the Almaty Akimat and the founder of the Almaty Marathon – Academician Shakhmardan Yessenov Science and Education Foundation. Asu will act as the exclusive prize and drinking partner. The prizes for the Summer Race will be provided by:
