Why is the Almaty Marathon postponed?
The Almaty Marathon is postponed to 12 September 2021 as we received an official response from the Almaty Department for Sanitary and Epidemiological Control represented by Zh.Bekshin to the request sent by “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund in order to agree on the marathon date.
“Pursuant to subparagraph 1) of paragraph 1 of the Decree No.3 dated 31.01.2021 by the Chief State Sanitary Inspector of Almaty “On further restrictive measures to prevent the coronavirus infection in Almaty and their further gradual mitigation”, entertainment events, sports competitions, exhibitions, conferences and family, solemn, memorable events (banquets, wedding parties, anniversary celebrations, commemorations), including those held at home, and other events brining together a large number of people shall remain prohibited.
We find this event in Almaty to be premature unless the epidemiological situation stabilizes.”
Will the Almaty Marathon take place this year?
We postpone the Almaty Marathon to 12 September 2021. By this time, we expect a decline in the number of Covid-19 cases due to mass vaccinations. Furthermore, by autumn, “Courage to be the First” CF will arrange competitions for a smaller number of participants in compliance with all sanitary regulations.
What about my entry fee?
All entry fees paid by participants are automatically transferred to the new date. Your registration remains active as well. We are waiting for you at a start line on 12 September 2021.
Can I be refunded my entry fee?
Yes, you can. All participants, who paid before 11:59 p.m. on 14 February (Sunday) 2021, can be refunded their entry fees.
You need just to apply through your personal account on our website:
1. Choose “My races”, then “Almaty Marathon”, press “Get a refund”.
2. Confirm your refund.
• Bank transfers will be refunded from 01.04.2021 to 09.04.2021 to a bank card with which you paid the Almaty Marathon 2021 registration fee.
• Participants who paid the Almaty Marathon 2021 registration fee via Qiwi payment terminals will be refunded in cash at the office of “Courage to be the First” CF from 01.04.2021 to 09.04.2021.
If I paid for a T-shirt / longsleeve at the time of my registration for the Almaty Marathon, can I be refunded money paid for these items?
Participants who applied for a refund will automatically be refunded the entire amount paid, including the payment for the T-shirt / longsleeve and payment for the transfer of the start slot to another distance.
Can I be refunded only the entry fee and leave a T-shirt / longsleeve, and vice versa?
Unfortunately, you cannot. Once a refund application is processed, you will be refunded a 100% amount you paid.
Can I register for the Almaty Marathon 2021?
Yes, you can. Registration for the Almaty Marathon remains open until 1 September 2021, or until the number of its participants reaches 17,000 people.
How can I get a printed name on my BIB number?
Yes, all participants registered from 4 January 2021 to 1 September 2021 will receive BIB numbers with names printed on them.
Will free open trainings continue?
Yes, they will. Now we have more time before the Almaty Marathon, but this is no reason to postpone our workouts.

Can my entry fee be transferred to another person?
No, it is not possible. You can be refunded your entry fee and register a new participant.
Can I transfer my entry fee to another event organized by “Courage to be the First” CF?
No, it is not possible.
