The purpose of the campaign is to pay attention to the children, who due to difficult life situation, feel the deficit thereof in these days.
This year several organizations got together to arrange this campaign – “Almaty Marathon”, Scientific and Educational Fund named after the Academician Sh. Yesenov, Information Internet Portal Tengrinews.kz and World Class Almaty.
— Every year in December we choose the organization, the children of which we can help, go there, talk to children, write down their wishes and at the old New Year eve make presents to them. Non-indifferent people of Kazakhstan help us to fulfill the kids’ wishes. We address them via mass media and Internet. This year more than 50 Kazakhstani families took part in the “New Year Tree of Wishes” campaign. Some of them make presents to kids, some other – to the orphanage. I believe that the quality of life of children from this large friendly family has become better than it had been before our appearance, — told the organizer of the campaign, Coordinator of Programs of the Scientific and Educational Fund named after Shakhmardan Yesenov Grigoriy Lea.
The smallest kid from those, who received the Father Frost’s presents – Nurzhausyn Koiaidarova is just two years old, the eldest kid – Zhumat Akhmetov is 17. At the beginning of the campaign the orphan home “Nur” was bringing up 46 children, but towards the end of December the number of children increased up to 51. Two foundling brothers and two more brothers and a sister (the kids’ father died and the mother is an alcoholic) joined the large family.
- I am an orphan too, and I know what it means to live without parents. That is why 19 years ago my husband and I decided to establish an orphan home. And we are very grateful that the guys came and asked the kids themselves what they would like to get from Father Frost. We can provide our children with elementary things, and their demands are rather modest, — told the Director of the Orphan Home “Nur” Tuyak Yeskozhina.
The organizers of the campaign have managed to find the construction company, which assumed the obligation to refurbish the activity hall in the orphan home, where kids do their homework, play, communicate and watch films in the evenings, towards spring. As regards the kids’ wishes they asked for sports uniform and drawing kits, dolls and radio-controlled cars, mobile telephones and watches as a present, and practically all of them needed clothes and footwear. For 8 years of its existence the “New Year Tree of Wishes” has made the wishes of more than 250 Kazakhstan children to come true.
