For the fourth time by now SLC MEGA Alma-Ata accepts the racers. At 8 o’clock in the morning the young bicycle racers aged from 12 to 17 opened the competition. This year, for the first time the juvenile distance of 14 km comprises the category of “MTB” (multi-terrain bike) bicycle type. The winners in the age category of 12-14 were Anastasiya Byerezan (“highway”) and Nataliya Safonova (“MTB”), Andrey Remkhe (“highway”) and Aidos Turganbek (“MTB”), and in the 15-17 age category Irina Tagasheva (“highway”) and Victoriya Byerezan (“MTB”), Davyd Boyarskiy (“highway”) and Iliya Korovko (“MTB”) demonstrated the best results. About 60 children took part in the competition at the juvenile distance.
In the main race of 34 km in the final standing Lyubov Reneva and Maksim Iglinskiy won the first places in the “highway” category, and at the distance of 57 km – Yekaterina Stepanova and Gennadiy Krupyakov.
Yevgeniya Bulgakova and Maksim Sotnikov set the best time among the participants in “MTB” category (34 km).
67 years old Aleksandr Vdovkin was the eldest participant toeing the starting line of the competition in the age category of “50+”. Besides Kazakhstan citizens, the citizens of Great Britain, Germany, USA, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Australia, Turkey, Ukraine, China and Italy took part in the “Tour of World Class Almaty”.
The race winners in all age categories were awarded with medals and commemorative prizes from the prize partners:
The drinking water partner “A’su” presented the juvenile race leaders with the potable water reserve for a year (500 l).

In the intervals between awarding the winners the audience has been entertained by the music collective Shot Band.
“This year we have several novelties right away, including change of the route, increase of the base distance by 4 km, introduction of “MTB” category and breaking into the age categories for awarding kids, and the greatest thing is the distance of 57 km for those preferring the professional level. More than 100 sportsmen took part in in highway racing. Also we decided to introduce a new tradition, which is customary among the professional racers at grand-tours, that is the yellow jersey. It was put on the best highway racers, demonstrating the best results. They are the representatives of “AlmatyBroTeam” and “Alatau Racing Team”, - commented Saltanat Kazybayeva, the director of “Almaty Marathon”.
The annual bicycle racing “Tour of World Class Almaty” for the fourth time was held with the active support of Almaty akimat, the scientific and educational foundation named after Academician Shakhmardan Yesenov and fitness club “World Class Almaty”.
